“Clydach” Stamp on Railings

In the course of the removal of layers of encrusted paint and rust which had built up over the years, the name “CLYDACH” was revealed on a few of the rails. One of the clearest examples of this stamp is on the first rail to the left of the front gate.

Clydach is located in south east Wales and it was the the site of an ironworks between the 1790s and the 1860s. The house at 33 Belgrave Road “Belgrave Lodge” dates from the late 1850s. The same stamp was identified during the restorration of the lawn fence at Russborough House. See
